How can CBD oil help you sleep?

Do you think CBD can help you sleep better?

Are you considering using CBD oil for sleep? Do you have questions about safety, effectiveness and above all legality?

For starters, we assume it’s legal where you come from.

There has been a lot of buzz about CBD and cannabis lately, thanks to the adoption of the 2018 Farm Bill that legalized hemp-based CBD with less than 0.3% THC at the federal level.

According to a recent Gallup poll, 14% of Americans say they personally use CBD-based products, with 11% mentioning use for sleep (40% for pain and 20% for anxiety).

Medical news and articles suggest that a good night’s sleep is one of the most essential yet overlooked necessities of life – so what can help someone sleep better?

Having a regular sleep schedule has benefits that people should start to notice and consider.

For people who suffer from insomnia, extracted cannabis oil is now gaining popularity all over the world.

The main ingredient, CBD , is also responsible for treating patients with anxiety, PTSD and other stress-related conditions that contribute to sleep deprivation.

If you’ve considered trying CBD to address sleep issues, you’re in luck. This article highlights the effects that CBD has on sleeping, as well as different forms you can take.

The cannabis plant has two known components: cannabidiol and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). The latter gives users a ‘high’ because of its psychoactive properties.

Unlike THC, cannabidiol is not psychoactive. Instead, users prefer to use CBD for its various health benefits.

While the number of studies is only starting to increase, the results of CBD use show a promising future for other health problems, such as, according to the New England Journal of Medicine, epilepsy and possibly helping a patient sleep better.

The relationship between CBD and sleep

There are several reasons why people have trouble sleeping. It can be due to mental problems (depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder), certain medications, continuous intake of caffeinated drinks and external factors such as noise.

In some cases, insomnia episodes can also be due to anxiety.

While CBD research has a long way to go, research suggests it can help treat anxiety, which is contributing to insomnia.

This study conducted by Scott Shannon, MD et al. Involved 72 patients. 47 subjects were afraid, while the other 25 had trouble sleeping.

The results showed that an intake of 25mg CBD pill in the first month showed the following:

79.2% of all participants said that CBD led to lower anxiety levels; and
66.7% of all participants said CBD gave them a better sleep experience.

Another factor that can contribute to insomnia is pain in any form.

A study conducted by Frontiers in Pharmacology reported that CBD helps reduce pain, ultimately reducing discomfort while sleeping.

In another study conducted in 2014 by researchers from the University of São Paulo, Brazil, the subjects had Parkinson’s disease, which involved a rapid eye movement (REM) disorder during sleep.

The patients had REM sleep behavior disorder (RBD) where they act in response to their dreams and have a hard time sleeping.

With CBD use, the symptoms improved dramatically. In line with the study conducted with RBD, another study published in Springer Nature concluded that CBD intake may help treat the condition, as well as daytime sleepiness.

Different forms of CBD that you can use

Vaping isn’t the only way to get CBD into your system. Think of the well-known CBD capsules , patches and tincture .

Other ways give the same results, although there may be differences in the amount of time it takes for the product to take effect.

Before buying CBD products, make sure the products are from organic CBD, lab tested and grown in the USA.

Full or broad spectrum CBD oil

This form has the highest cannabinoid component of all.

The broad spectrum CBD oil does not undergo various processes and you take it as is, which helps to maintain a compound called terpenes.

Terpenes contribute to the aroma and taste of CBD while also having health benefits.

Edible CBDs

Several manufacturers sell edible CBD in the form of gummies, truffles, mints or chewing gum.

This form is most common in geriatric patients because vaping is not recommended. However, keep in mind that a study published in the journal PubMed Central® (PMC) of The National Center for Biotechnology Information found that there is such a thing as ‘the first pass effect’ where the CBD first passes through the liver and then to the GIT.

This process can take up to two hours, with a 20-30% uptake.

Legalization has increased access to and research into CBD, with more scientists turning their attention to studying the medicinal effects.

Large amount of insomnia

Millions of Americans report problems with insomnia or falling asleep.

Many turn to over-the-counter prescription sleep aids, which often include long warning labels and side effects. In addition, they can be addictive and ineffective.

The effects of CBD on insomnia and insomnia can vary depending on each person’s individual biology and tolerance.

But for individuals looking for a potential treatment for sleep problems, CBD may be a safe, non-habit-forming drug alternative promising for those struggling to get a good night’s sleep.

CBD for sleep

How does CBD relieve insomnia?

1. Decreased anxiety

A common cause of insomnia is anxiety and stress. A large case series review found that CBD is beneficial for anxiety-related disorders and an improvement in sleep quality.

2. Pain relief

For those struggling with insomnia from chronic or acute pain, CBD may offer a welcome alternative to pharmaceutical pain medications.

CBD can sometimes reduce pain-induced insomnia by working on the symptoms itself rather than providing a sedative effect like many sleep aids.

3. Soothe sore muscles

CBD can potentially be very effective in relieving muscle soreness after exercise.

After an intensive session at the gym, use one of our CBD patches to help you recover.

Our CBD balm is a great topical to use every day to deal with discomfort.

4. Pregnancy symptoms

Many women have a hard time getting a good night’s sleep during pregnancy because of a variety of factors: stress, pain, nausea, and general pregnancy-induced insomnia.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has found no adverse health effects on CBD, although studies in pregnant women have shown scarcity.

Talk to your doctor before using CBD during pregnancy.

5. Elimination of nightmares

Nightmares can have a negative effect on overall sleep quality for many people.

For those who suffer from REM sleep behavior disorder (RBD), characterized by restlessness and increased nightmares, a good night’s sleep is nothing but a dream (pun intended).

Patients in a case series treated with CBD had fewer side effects from RBD, without negative side effects.

6. Relief from drowsiness

CBD has a double effect, depending on the individual and the time it is administered.

This is because it regulates the body’s sleep / wake cycles, waking it up during the day and relaxing at night.

Insomnia, daytime sleepiness, or sleepiness can affect both productivity during the day and ability to fall asleep at night.

Administration of CBD during the day can potentially promote alertness, leading to more restful sleep at night.

Using CBD for sleep

Everyone is different, so experimentation is key to finding what works for you.

CBD can have different effects depending on dosage, product and time of day, as well as individual body chemistry.

Studies show that CBD is best used for short-term drowsiness, as the effects can diminish over time.

Products such as tinctures and sublingual sprays provide instant effects, while edibles and oils release CBD more slowly, leaving you to sleep longer.

Try CBD an hour before bed and take a night off from counting sheep.

Decide to take CBD

If you nevertheless decide to use CBD, it is wise to keep in mind the following points:
-Always start with the lowest dose indicated on the label;
-Consult your doctor if you want to increase your dose;
-Do not hesitate to mix CBD with your current medications and gradually increase the levels under the supervision of your doctor.

Treatment with CBD

Cannabidiol (CBD) oil seems to be used everywhere as a treatment for anxiety, chronic pain, acne, and even with some foods and drinks.

It is readily available in different doses and forms available over the counter. It is natural to wonder what this mystical composition of marijuana is and what it does in the body.

You may be thinking, “Wait, marijuana? Doesn’t that get you high? ‘

But let’s set the record straight: Unlike CBD’s counterpart delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), CBD is a non-psychoactive substance, meaning it doesn’t change your cognitive state.

However, like THC, CBD can help you relax and people are wondering if it will help them finally get a tightly closed eye.

“It’s a tricky question to answer,” says Deirdre Conroy, Ph.D. , clinical director of Michigan Medicine’s Behavioral Sleep Medicine Clinic.

“Few studies have been done on CBD and its effect on sleep, and in the published studies, few participants have been administered with different doses and forms of CBD.”

However, many of these studies suggest that there may be some benefit to using CBD as a sleep aid, and it is worth investigating.

“There is evidence, for example, that CBD can be helpful in managing anxiety. If someone’s anxiety is causing their sleeping problem, a CBD product can benefit them, ”says Conroy.

But reaping the benefits of CBD is a slippery slope, as much of its safety or long-term efficacy is still unknown.

One study found that taking less than 160 mg of CBD oil can promote waking up.

While higher doses can promote sleep, the FDA has approved only one CBD product, a prescription drug for the treatment of two rare, severe forms of epilepsy.

Since other CBD products are not regulated, you may not know what you are really getting.

“This compound comes in different forms and their doses can be different, so you may not know how much CBD you are actually using,” says Conroy.

Regular use of high-dose CBD can harm you before you become aware of it, according to the FDA.

It can cause liver damage and affect how other drugs are metabolized, which can cause serious side effects.

Likewise, the increased risk of sedation and drowsiness when used with alcohol or other central nervous system depressants can lead to injuries.

“Non-pharmacological interventions have long-term data that prove their safety and efficacy,” but we are looking for answers that we do not yet have. The products surpass science. ‘

Preparing yourself to sleep

Melatonin for sleep, like CBD, needs more research to debunk its benefits and harm.

We naturally secrete melatonin as our bodies prepare to go to bed.

Until we have more answers about CBD, there are a plethora of behavioral strategies that promote better sleep, including:

Allow yourself time to relax before going to bed in a dark environment without bright screens. If you have to look at a screen, use a brightness filter.

Having outlets to manage stress and anxiety, such as journaling or seeking professional help from a therapist when it is more serious.

Train your body to follow a normal sleep and wake cycle if you are not already on a routine.

If you regularly have sleep problems, you may have an underlying sleep disorder that a sleep specialist can help diagnose and manage.

If the sleep problems persist, it is advisable to seek help from a sleep medicine specialist.

CBD available online

CBD products are often made from hemp, a legal plant in all 50 states. That means that hemp is not subject to the same laws that cause so much trouble and confusion today.

Thus, by extension, CBD patches are legal virtually everywhere and can be shipped across state lines by commercial carriers.

And because they are so easy to ship, one of the best places to find CBD patches is online.

If your local pharmacy does not stock CBD patches, you can find a wide variety in your favorite online store.

You may have to pay a little more for shipping, but they will arrive ready for use.

CBD counteracts the psychoactive effects of THC

Another benefit of the CBD patch is that CBD counteracts or reduces the reality-altering power of the THC in marijuana.

THC is of course known for its psychoactive effects. But with the good psychoactive effects comes some pretty serious bad psychoactive effects.

This is why high THC products may not be the best choice for those seeking medical benefits.

High-THC products often contain the CBD (and other cannabinoids) to induce extreme psychoactive effects.

Who is the CBD Patch for?

Are CBD patches right for you?

We are often asked this question. Our reaction? Just try it and find out for yourself. What do you have to lose?

With CBD patches, you don’t have to worry about side effects as CBD doesn’t really have any. And you don’t have to worry about psychedelic effects, because CBD doesn’t.

If you are not sure how to start or which patch to choose, talk to your doctor and / or a CBD expert

And if you don’t like your experience with CBD patch, you can always switch to one of the many other forms of CBD-rich cannabis currently on the market.

Is CBD legal?

Hemp-derived CBD products (with less than 0.3 percent THC) are legal at the federal level, but are still illegal under some state laws.

Marijuana-derived CBD products are illegal at the federal level, but are legal under some state laws.

Check the laws of your state and those of wherever you travel.

Keep in mind that over-the-counter CBD products are not FDA approved and may be incorrectly labeled.

What are the health benefits of CBD?

But while there is a lot of anecdotal evidence, it is still very difficult to say what the real benefits are due to a serious lack of research.

Right now, pharmacies just kind of make sense of it and say, ‘Yes, it works for this’, but that’s not the way drugs are practiced – it has to be based on evidence, and there isn’t a lot of evidence to really support these claims. ”

And with CBD, there is still no solid evidence that it can cure ailments and / or diseases. CBD is not a drug.
